I am a full-time Consultant in Sexual & Reproductive Health in Belfast HSC Trust. My NHS menopause sessions are at the Mater Hospital.This is a busy clinic for women with premature ovarian insufficiency, early menopause after cancer treatment or surgery, women with complex medical problems and those experiencing bleeding problems with HRT. I do two NHS menopause clinics a week and specialist sexual & reproductive health clinics.I do one private clinic per week .
I am an accredited Menopause Specialist and Menopause Trainer with the British Menopause Society.
I obtained my medical degree MBChB from the University of Birmingham Medical school in 1993 and then returned to work in Northern Ireland.
I have always been passionate about women's health and after postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology I became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1999, becoming a Fellow of the RCOG in 2012.
I became a Member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in 2003, and was awarded fellowship of the FSRH in 2016.I am Service Improvement Lead for the Sexual & Reproductive Health Service in Belfast HSC Trust ,Chair of the FSRH NI Committee, & FSRH representative on the RCOG NI Committee.
Since February 2024 I have been on the GMC Specialist Register for Community Sexual & Reproductive Health.
I regularly teach junior doctors, gynaecologists,GPs and nurses within my clinics and speak at regional meetings on menopause, HRT ,contraception & abortion.
I have presented audits at national meetings including the RCOG World Congress and the British Menopause Society annual conference.
