Dr Siobhan Kirk
I am an Associate Specialist in Gynaecology in Belfast HSC Trust based in the regional HRT Clinic at the Mater Hospital. This is a busy clinic for women with premature ovarian insufficiency, early menopause after cancer treatment or surgery, women with complex medical problems and those experiencing side effects with HRT. I do three menopause clinics a week and a specialist intrauterine contraception clinic.
I am an accredited Menopause Specialist with the British Menopause Society.
I obtained my medical degree MBChB from the University of Birmingham Medical school in 1993 and then returned to work in Northern Ireland.
I have always been interested in women's health and after postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology I became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1999, becoming a Fellow of the RCOG in 2012.
I did further specialist training in sexual and reproductive health and became a Member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in 2003, and was awarded fellowship of the FSRH in 2016.I am Clinical Lead for the Sexual & Reproductive Health Service in Belfast HSC Trust.
I regularly teach junior doctors, gynaecologists and GPs within my clinics and speak at regional meetings on menopause, HRT and contraception.
I have presented audits at national meetings including the RCOG World Congress and the British Menopause Society annual conference.
Menopause in the workplace is a big issue and I have recently collaborated with the HR team to develop a menopause toolkit for managers and staff in Belfast HSC Trust.
